The Ranch

In 1876, O.T. Armstrong left his farm in Missouri to homestead a 350 acre cattle ranch in Montana’s Paradise Valley. Nearly 140 years and six generations later, the ranch is still owned and managed by the same family. Though the property and ranch operations have grown and improved over the years, our way of life remains much the same as it did so many years ago. In addition to the breathtaking scenery and diverse wildlife, it's common to see a cowboy on horseback tending to cattle the traditional way.

Activities

Paradise Valley and the surrounding areas of Southwest Montana boast a multitude of activities for the entire family. The Paradise Valley alone is home to several world-class fisheries. We also operate Armstrong Spring Creek that runs through the ranch.

Come fall, Justin O'Hair's Chimney Rock Outfitters provides top-quality private land hunting on our ranch.

Geyser, YNP

There are opportunities for hiking and viewing wildlife in the nearby Gallatin National Forest, the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, and Yellowstone National Park. Within Paradise Valley there are a number of outfitters that are ready to take you and your party on any number of rock climbing, horseback riding, or whitewater rafting adventures.

In season, the Paradise Valley can provide the opportunity to pursue the quarry of your choosing, from trophy big game to waterfowl and upland game bird species.

Skiing in Montana

The fun does not have to stop when winter sets in and the snow begins to pile up. The O’Hair Ranch Lodge is within driving distance to several downhill and nordic ski areas, such as Bridger Bowl and the Bohart Ranch. Yellowstone National Park provides other winter recreation opportunities such as snowmobiling, snowcoach tours, and winter wildlife viewing.

The area’s activities are certainly not limited to the outdoor pursuits. Just ten miles north through the Valley you will find historical Livingston, home to a wide variety of museums, art galleries, craft breweries, and the weekly Summer Farmer’s Market. Back to the south of the Lodge, guests can enjoy the quaint communities of Emigrant and Chico Hot Springs.
